Rotary collection pays for aid for Haiti

FIVE emergency survival boxes purchased by shoppers in Waitrose will arrive in Haiti by the end of the week.

The boxes were paid for with £2,500 collected from members of the public by Beaconsfield Rotary Club just outside Waitrose on Saturday.
Each box contains a tent for ten people, cooking facilities and water purifying tablets.
Peter Hodson, chair of Beaconsfield Rotary Club, said: "People were very generous, quite a few people put in £20 notes and there were a lot of tenners as well."
He added: "Rotary has these boxes ready to go in the event of a disaster. We don't like sending cash because there are so many stories about corrupt officials."

We'd like to hear from you.
