BHS girls question author Mary Hooper
GIRLS at Beaconsfield High School had the chance to learn about how to write exciting and vibrant historical novels when they met the author Mary Hooper on Monday.
Around 150 girls heard the author of historical novels read from her books and talk about how she researched events such as the plague and Victorian funeral businesses to ensure her books were accurate. Mary Hooper has written nearly a hundred books, but is best known for her historical teen fiction, including, Newes from the Dead and Petals in the Ashes.
"It's been a fascinating and inspiring day for the students, many of whom are keen writers", said School Librarian, Sue Harris. The students posed many questions to the author and were particularly eager to learn more about what inspired Mary Hooper to write and if any of her books were going to be made into a film, but she's still waiting for a Hollywood producer to get in touch!
