Youths on motorbikes cause mayhem in fields
GANGS of youths on off-road motorbikes and quad bikes who have been using fields at Beaconsfield as a high speed circuit are making life a misery for residents and dog walkers.
Almost every evening since mid August youths - sometimes eight at a time - are tearing up and down two fields west of the A315 Amersham Road, terrifying dog walkers using a public footpath.
Residents have told the Advertiser how they fear for their own safety and for that of their dogs as the men - aged between 14 and 40 - swoop and swerve around the field in a dangerous way.
A woman, who asked not to be named for fear of reprisals, said: "They come at you from all directions with absolutely no regard for anyone, coming right up and swerving at the last moment, it's very frightening.
"Last night (Monday) there were four of five of them. The noise is horrible, but it's the danger I worry about. Sometimes it's so frightening you go out to walk the dog and you come straight back again."
Another, who also asked not to be named, said: "It's been happening almost every evening from 5pm until it gets dark. Sometimes they go round the edge of the field, sticking to the path which is what the dog walkers do, but they also go right through the middle and over the crops."
PC Ian Barnett, based at Beaconsfield Police Station, said police are working to solve the problem.
Police have now identified the landowner and once they have confirmation that the bikers are trespassing, they will have the power to confiscate the motorbikes from their owners if they continue to enter the fields, he said.

Honestly, what harm are they doing? They are just being young, and letting off a bit of steam! Credit to them for seizing the initiative and finding something to do; Heaven knows, there's nothing/no-one else in Beaconsfield to allow them some fun!! It's only a bit of noise, surely people can put up with that 1 or 2 days a week?
