Man dies in M40 accident
Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses to a collision that occurred today on the northbound carriageway of the M40.
At around 11.15am, a blue Renault veered off the carriageway between junctions three and four onto the hard shoulder and collided with a number of traffic cones before coming to a stop.
The driver, an 83-year-old man, was taken to Wycombe General Hospital where he was later declared dead.
PC Kate Bishop, who is investigating the collision, said: "We have started an investigation into this collision and at this stage it is believed that it may have been caused by the driver suffering a medical episode. I would like to hear from anyone that may have seen this vehicle prior to the collision or who witnessed the collision itself."
Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC Bishop at Amersham Roads Policing base via 0845 8 505 505. If you don't want to talk to police or leave your name, please contact the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
