Families flock to sports spectacular at Holtspur School

ALMOST 300 children and their parents attended a Sports Spectacular laid on by Holtspur School in glorious sunshine on Saturday.

The families took part in a variety of sports in the school grounds in Cherry Tree Road and at the nearby Beacon Centre in Holtspur Way.
These included rugby, netball, basket ball, trampolining, rocket ball, frisbee throwing, short tennis and football organised by clubs including Wycombe Wanderers, Beaconsfield Rugby Club, and Beaconsfield Tennis Club. The rowing, which was to be organised by Henley Rowing Club, was cancelled as the coach had swine flue.
Organiser Andy Giff, a year four teacher at the school who organised the event, said: "The parents were absolutely fantastic. We had them playing basket ball, netball and rugby, and the kids were great too. It was like a return to sport, which was the point of the day. We've had lots of emails and comments from parents, and they're already asking about a repeat next year."
