Teenagers make film about hoodies in Holtspur
TEENAGERS have made a five minute film in Holtspur which they hope will change they way they are perceived by the older generation.
Around 20 young people - who didn't know each other before this project and who come from several different high schools - spent a week making the film called Mistaken Identity.
The group - who are pupils at schools including Dr Challoner's, The Misbourne School, Chesham Park Community College and Chesham High School - did much of the filming at Holtspur Recreation Ground.
The film starts with a group of hooded teenagers hanging around looking as though they are up to no good. Neighbours complain and police move them on. Then, when there's a mugging in an alleyway, everyone assumes that the hoodies have done it. But there's a twist, and an unexpected ending. The hoodies turn out to be the heroes.
Toby Jackman, 15, wrote the script following a discussion on the plot with the rest of the group.
Toby, from Chesham, said he had come on the course after hearing about it at school because he was considering a career in the film industry.
He said: "I wanted to learn how to use the professional equipment, and I have had a chance to do that, I've also done some directing."
Rudy Abi-Akar, 14, from Beaconsfield, who said he was also considering a career in the media, said: "It's been very useful."
A 16 year old said his mother had said if he didn't come on the course she would ground him. He said he'd probably choose to be shopping or skateboarding in London, but that he was enjoying the course.
The group was aided by two professional film makers from I-Van and the project, called Lights, Camera Action! was funded by Buckinghamshire County Council's youth service.
Sarah Wood, who runs the youth team in South Bucks, said she hoped the film would be show-cased at an event so that friends and parents could view it.

Lets be honest here, this is just more political spin! You only have to turn on the TV or open ANY Newspaper to see the descriptions regularly feature 'youths wearing Hooded Tops with the Hoods pulled up' when a crime has taken place. Thats not sweeping generalization, that is FACT!! Don't believe me? Visit the TVP Website, scroll to Press Releases and read the reports for yourself!
What a ridiculous comment and assumption to make. A lot of these children are troubled, and come from broken homes. Frequently, they have no Male role-model to look up to or guide them through life. A few of them do misbehave, but we have successfully proven that by engaging with them, and treating them like Adults, they discover not only hidden talents, like the group above, but will give respect to the general public.
You should be ashamed of yourself, running them down at every opportunity. They need love and direction - they are our future after all!
He's a graduate, and a director of a large company. When he goes through customs, if he's wearing a hoodie (which he frequently does) he ALWAYS gets stopped. If he's in a suit, he is NEVER stopped. It's not the article of clothing that commits the crime.
You may have a point Parrot. Perhaps you therefore also have an explanation as to WHY the 'Hoodie' is the "uniform of choice" when it comes to Muggers, Thieves, Chav's, Vandal's, Neds, Scally's and ne'e'r do well's?
I won't hold my breath......
To answer it for you, I would respectfully suggest because the aforementioned don't wish to be identified, thus proving to the rest of the country what cowardly low-life SCUM they actually are?? Am I right, or am I right?
Sarah Street, are you for real? Or are you the creation of the Beaconsfield Advertiser designed to provoke and inflame, thus drawing comment?
Assuming that such morons as yourself do actually exist, let me assure you that my adjective of choice to describe you and your Left-wing ilk is not repeatable on this website..... suffice it to say, it's 4 letters long, starts with C and ends in T, and most certainly isn't the word CLOT!
