Pinewood to sponsor new Thames Valley Youth FC
A NEW county league level football club which already has almost 100 members was launched this week.
Thames Valley Youth FC was formed over the summer by a group of parents who broke away from the Delaford Colts where their children were members last season.
The new club comprises ten squads ranging from under 7 to under 14 with most already full.
However the club has pledged not to turn away anybody who wants to join them.
Darren Gotch, the club's child welfare officer, was one of a handful of parents who made the decision to break away from the Delaford Colts.
The club will train at the Evreham Sports Centre in Iver, starting from Monday (17th). On September 6th the club holds a family fun day with friendly games and entertainment for non-footballing siblings, and on September 13 the first league games take place.
Child welfare officer Mr Gotch - who says he is "football mad" and whose nine year old daughter Jaime has just been signed by Arsenal Ladies - said: "The FA have given us excellent guidance. We hope to be up to charter standard very quickly. Everybody will be CRB checked and all our coaches will be trained to a minimum of level one."
The club's sponsor for the 2009-10 season is Pinewood Studios, which will pay for over a 100 home kits.
Mr Gotch said: "We are very thankful indeed to them, their sponsorship has made a massive difference to us."
Andrew Smith of Pinewood said: "We're delighted to be supporting the community through the club encouraging work with local youth and especially their best practice of positively motivating players to improve skills and abilities."
Senior members of the FA and members of England's under 21 squad attended the official launch of the club on August 6 at Pinewood Studios.
