Youngster wins gardening prize
A YOUNGSTER from Beaconsfield has been rewarded for his gardening abilties.
Guy Quelch, seven, entered Beaconsfield Garden Centre's Plant a Garden in a Dish competition and won first prize.
Tania Hancocks, horticultural manager at the centre in London Road, said: "We invited youngsters from schools in the area to create their very own garden in a dish. We gave them ideas such as how to use seeds, cutting, soil and gravel from their own gardens, and how to create their very own pond.
"All the gardens that were entered in our competition were fantastic and a lot of effort and creativity were involved.
"All the children had put so much work into their gardens it was very hard to choose the winner, but Guy's garden was brilliant. Well done and a huge thank you to everyone who took part."
Guy won a large hessian eco bag filled with gardening equipment including, seeds, trays, gloves, a fork, a spade and a shovel.
Tania added: "We are really keen to get children involved in growing, whether it's in their garden or in a dish and we try to involve youngsters of all ages. We hope this competition evoked children's imaginations by encouraging them to think creatively about gardening."
