A MAN who joined The Beaconsfield School 18 years ago as a PE teacher is the new school's new head teacher designate.

Nigel Dudding, who has been deputy head for five years, has described the role as "the dream job." He takes over from former head Alex Russell who left on Friday.
The father of three from Henley on Thames said he aims to build on improvements made by the management team in the past few years and get the school upgraded by Ofsted from "good" to "outstanding."
He said: "There's a great feeling of team work at this school, a great sense of community, the teachers are totally engaged and it's like one big extended family. I need to harness that and expand it."
He added: "This is like the dream job. I love being with the students, we have very supportive parents and the staff are outstanding. They all go that extra mile to make sure the students get the best possible experience. I feel hugely privileged to be stepping into this role."
Mr Dudding taught geography at the school for several years before becoming leader of the sixth form which had just 15 pupils at the time, and has since expanded to 130. He was then assistant head for two years before becoming deputy head. Mr Dudding will remain head teacher designate until a formal appointment at Easter.
