Head of Beacsonfield High to step down

Posted by Polly Manser on Apr 27, 09 02:09 PM in Beaconsfield News

The head teacher of Beaconsfield High School has announced that she is stepping down in August.
Penny Castagnoli, 60, will continue to work for the school two days a week as a consultant.
Deputy head Owain Johns will become acting head, and the post of head teacher will be advertised in January 2010.

Ms Castagnoli's new role will enable her to assist Mr Johns as acting head, and to oversee major building works which are due to start in the summer holidays and be completed by September 2010, and to continue to coach and mentor senior members of staff. The school became a Leadership Partner School in September and places great emphasis on developing leaders among both staff and students.
Ms Castagnoli said: "I'm absolutely delighted that the governors have given us this opportunity to develop this model of collaborative leadership and I have every confidence that Owain will continue the strategies that have made this school outstanding."
Mr Johns joined the school as head of Design and Technology in 2002 and became deputy head 18 months ago.
He said: "This is a fantastic opportunity to lead an outstanding school and I'm really excited about the opportunities that may lie ahead."
Ms Castagnoli will also continue to act as a consultant to three other schools in Buckinghamshire as a school improvement partner.
Ms Castagnoli joined Beaconsfield High School in 1983 after a period as deputy head at Drayton Manor High School, a large comprehensive in Ealing. She became head in 1985.
