Pupils wow audience with show of modern dance

Posted by Greg Burns on Mar 18, 09 10:40 AM in Beaconsfield News

Bex-Street-Dance.jpgMore than a hundred pupils at The Beaconsfield School wowed an audience of 250 peers and parents at a sell out evening of modern dance and gymnastics.
The third annual Beatz show on last Tuesday proved a massive hit containing everything from street dance and stunts to ballet and poetry. This year many of the 23 performances were based on dances from films.

Taking part were groups based at the school, including Advanced Dance Group, Street Dance Club, Junior Dance and Street Stunt, as well as performances by pupils who take private dance lessons. Several groups had choreographed their own performances.
The event was organised by teachers Katherine Belcher and Nikki Formby.
Ms Belcher said: "It was a fantastic evening. Back stage people were very nervous, and quite a few people taking part had never performed before in anything like this, but the audience really got into it and their response was fantastic so the atmosphere was great."

We'd like to hear from you.

It was a fantastic evening. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Well done to ALL of the pupils who took part, and to the staff for their help, and support to make the evening possible.

Oh, I missed this event as I was on a rewarding Adventure week for some troubled teens in my care.

It sounded like a roaring success, and I must make a point of being around for the next one. Well done, all of you! Conclusive proof to the cynical that the Youth of today is both creative and talented.
