Pothole clear up after Advertiser story

Posted by Greg Burns on Mar 5, 09 10:33 AM in People

Bex-Mended-Pothole.jpgScores of potholes in Beaconsfield have been repaired since The Buckinghamshire Advertiser ran a front page story on the issue last week.
Within 24 hours of this paper alerting Bucks County Council press office to the fact that we were running the story, at least ten major potholes in Ledborough Lane have been repaired.
Other repairs were made shortly afterwards along Longbottom Lane Lane between Beaconsfield and Jordans.

Motorists will be delighted - including one who slowed down as reporter Polly Manser was taking photographs of potholes for last week's paper and opened his window to say: "very well done."
But Peter Hodson, who is attempting to claim £170 back from BCC after bursting his tyre in a pothole in Broad Lane, said more potholes needed to be filled in, and quickly.
Mr Hodson, of South Drive, said: "There are still plenty of potholes, and when I'm driving now, I'm looking at them and swerving round them, instead of looking at the road or the other traffic. Other people will be doing the same and that's dangerous."
Mr Hodson has sent his £170 bill to BCC along with an AA report of damage to the car and he's been told it's been passed on to his insurers. When he finds out whether or not he's being refunded, The Advertiser will let other readers know how to go about making a claim.
