SignHealth calls for more awareness

Posted by Greg Burns on Jan 30, 09 04:00 PM in Beaconsfield News

A Beaconsfield charity is asking for primary care trust to give more thought to access for deaf people.
A recent GP survey showed that deaf people are less happy with their care and are much less healthy than those with no hearing difficulties.
SignHealth, base in Baring Road, wants the trusts to significantly improve services by creating a list of deaf patients, give more training and include deaf care in its monitoring guidelines.
It also wants deaf people to become more involved in patient forums and a position created in the Department of Health with a specific responsibility for the deaf perspective.

We'd like to hear from you.
