Butlers-Court-29.1.jpgKathy Miller met Year 6 pupils at Butlers Court primary school in Beaconsfield and found them surprisingly well informed about both Barack Obama and healthy eating.

Who would you rather meet, Barack Obama or The Queen?
Kieran Bell, 10: Obama because he's the first black president and it's good because it shows they're not treating black people differently
Jasmin Kang, 10: Obama because he's going down in history and it would be nice to meet him and see how he's feeling at the moment. He's done something no one else thought he could do.
Maddie Thornham, 10: Obama because he's the first black President, whereas the Queen has been Queen for a long time and everyone knows who she is. It would be really cool to see him in person.
Neil Stephenson, 11: The Queen because she's more related to England and she's got nice paintings and stuff. I've visited Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle and found them really interesting.
Andrew Beck, 10: I'd probably choose Obama because he's the most powerful man in the world, which makes him interesting. Also because he's new and has just started, while the Queen's been Queen for a long time.
Ellie Cochrane, 10,: I'd like to meet the Queen because you don't see her much on TV, while Obama is always on TV. The Queen knows lots of things that people in her country don't know. I'd ask her if it's lonely being Queen because no one else is as high as her.

If you had to go without something for a year to save money during the credit crunch, what would it be?
Kieran: I'd go without a car because I'd go to loads of places on my bike. I do quite a lot of cycling, but Mum and Dad would find it hard because they go further for their work.
Jasmin: I'd go without fast food, but I don't have much because we didn't have it in Dubai where I used to live, and it's more expensive than good food.
Maddie: Probably the TV because you don't need one. You can do lots of stuff without it and it's not good to watch it for too long. But I would find it difficult to do without my Wii because it's really exciting and interactive - you can create your own people and play in a new place.
Neil: I'd be prepared to go without sweets, but it would be a pretty big sacrifice. I'd get fitter and more healthy, but I'd miss chocolate bars.
Andrew: Maybe certain types of food, such as best steak. And I could just about cope with a smaller garden, as long as it fits one football goal and a trampoline.
Ellie: I'd go without TV because my mum always says we watch too much. I'd try to play outside more instead of always sitting on a sofa.

How do you stay healthy?
Kieran: I like fruit, apples and oranges and salads. I help my mum make them at home. But I also like chips, even though I only have them once every two weeks.
Jasmin: I have wheat cereal and four pieces of fruit every day and always a yogurt for a snack. It's good to be healthy so you don't get overweight. But pizzas are my favourite food
Maddie: We have fruit after every meal, but if we have a very healthy meal like salad, baguette and couscous, we might follow it with an unhealthy pudding like ice-cream with loads of sprinkles, mousse and cream. If my mum cooks chicken nuggets, she normally puts salad or tomatoes by the side. I eat a lot of salad, pasta and coleslaw.
Neil: I play football three times a week and I like eating lasagne, pasta and salads. But I like burgers too and ours are healthy because we make our own at home. I love pork crackling, which isn't healthy and I hate mushrooms, even though they are.
Andrew: I try to go outside every day, though it's too dark and wet now. I play football and rugby in my garden, by myself or with my dog. I eat pasta and most vegetables, but I don't like asparagus. I eat pizza or my mum's oven chips once a fortnight, but I know I shouldn't have them every day because there's lots of fat in them.
Ellie: I do gymnastics every Monday and I like eating lots of fruit. But I like chocolate, which I have twice a week. And I don't like the vegetable squash, which I get a lot because our cousins grow it.

Did you make any New Year resolutions and have you managed to keep them?
Kieran: I promised to eat less sweets and drink more water. I've kept them, I only eat sweets once every three weeks now, but my favourite are lollipops.
Jasmin: My resolution was to keep my room tidy and offer to help my mum a bit more. I've kept that and my mum would say so too. I help her with the dishes and sometimes vacuum the carpet and clear the table.
Maddie: My resolution was to stop clicking my knuckles and to give more attention to my cat and rabbit. My mum stays at home with them during the day and when I come home, they cling on to me. The cat follows me everywhere and misses me when I'm at school. She's not allowed upstairs, but sometimes I sneak her up.
Andrew: I promised to be more nice to my sister and I've kept it up because she's been away for a week. It will be difficult to keep the resolution when she's back.
Ellie: I'm trying to keep my room tidier. I tidied it this morning. It's a fairly easy resolution to keep and my mum's pleased.
Neil: I said I'd try to be fitter. I'm eating more fruit and veg and am doing more exercise, such as running around in the playground and doing stretches.

If you could choose your dream holiday, where would you go?
Kieran: Spain because it's hot and fun. I've been before and it's got lots of water parks and I'm a good swimmer.
Jasmin: I'd go back to Dubai where we used to live because all my friends are there. When we came back here, it seemed a completely new place, it is cold here and it's boiling there. I miss my Dubai friends very much.
Maddie: I'd go to America because it's got all new stuff and it's really cool. They've got no history, but they're good at planning for the future.
Neil: I'd like to go to the Caribbean because they've got lots of nice beaches. I'd build sandcastles and go surfing. I like their music, it's funky and catchy.
Andrew: Probably California because I've seen an advert which looked good and my friend said it was really good. They have nice weather and nice people and apparently the beaches are really good.
Ellie: Barcelona because my friend's been and really liked it. I don't know much about it, but I've been to Spain and I know it's warm and I like trying to learn different languages.

We'd like to hear from you.
