View spectacular decorations at St Mary and All Saints 'til Jan 5

It is more a case of The Twelve Displays than the Twelve Days of Christmas at Mary and All Saints Church in Beaconsfield.
The church has been beautifully and painstakingly decorated, as it is every Christmas, but this time the team of 50 or so who do it have produced something different.
Each display represents a Christmas carol, from The Holly and The Ivy to While Shepherds Watched, and not only foliage, but delicately made figures of people and animals have been used to create them.

For God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman, three purple cloaked gentlemen singing from golden hymn books approach Jesus, his proud parents looking on. Purple blooms from Singaporean Orchids and silver-coated twigs of birch and holly complete the scene by Sue Cuthbert of Burkes Road, Beaconsfield.
A grandmother who has arranged flowers for 20 years, she said: "I made the figures from baubles and cardboard cones. The hymn books were cut-up Christmas hats from a cracker."
In The Twelve Days of Christmas, created by Sally Carter of Gregories Road, curtain hooks represent the golden rings, while papier mache french hens, turtle doves and partridge are perched in laurel and holly branches.
Husbands were recruited to help secure complex, high mechanics and affix the candle towers to the pews. A family worked together to create the town of Bethlehem. Three ships were made from fallen leaves. Children from the junior church made snowflakes and tree decorations for Frosty the Snowman.
The displays were organised by Angela Shepherd. She said: "It all looked quite magical when lit by candlelight for the many Christmas services." You can view them until January 5.
