Fair performs well in difficult times
Sales of artwork were down at The Autumn Beaconsfield Art Fair despite the fact that it was the biggest for several years.
Cecile Gallina was one of fifty artists to exhibit at the fair at The Beaconsfield School, Wattleton Road, Beaconsfield, on Saturday.
Ms Gallina, from Chalfont St Giles, said: "I don't know if it's the credit crunch but by lunch time there were only a couple of red dots on the paintings."
Organiser Linda Hope said that although paintings did not sell well, especially the high value pieces, sales of prints were up and the fair made a record £1900 for the school despite the economic gloom.
She said: "We are delighted to have exceeded the amount raised in previous fairs despite the difficult times."
She thanked the many volunteers for their valuable help. The next art fair will take place on Saturday May 16.
