Beaconsfield High alter £2m development plan
Beaconsfield High School has made changes to its planning application to redevelop one of one of its buildings.
Head teacher Penny Castagnoli said the revised plan for school, in Wattleton Road, which would be submitted on Friday (7/11), would include more provision for performing arts.
Construction will still start in April 2009 and finish in August 2010, she said.
The existing drama studio in the 40 year old Taylor Centre will be retained and two existing classrooms combined to provide an additional space for drama.
The revised plans include 30 extra parking spaces which it is hoped will ease congestion on busy Wattleton Road. The overall footprint of the building will remain the same.
The planned new Learning Centre is unaffected by the revised plan.
Built in 1967 and with 1,080 pupils at present the school is operating with 300 more pupils than it was built for and does not have the capacity to admit anymore.
A fundraising campaign has raised nearly £2m for the project.
