Beaconsfield home extension gets green light

NEIGHBOURS failed to stop new comers to their street from extending their house in Beaconsfield despite a plea to councillors at a planning meeting of South Bucks District Council last week.
Andy Gregson of 65 Gregories Road had tried to persuade councillors to refuse permission for an extension at number 67 because he said it would result in a significant loss of light for him and his neighbours at number 69.

He said that number 69 would lose 50 per cent of the light from their dining room.
He said: "Most houses in this road are large, that's true, but number 67 has a relatively small plot."
Bernard Barrett, of number 67, said: "We want to create a nice family house with four bedrooms on the first floor. Much of Gregories Road consists of nice houses, we don't want anything extraordinary."
He said he had removed his garage and considerably reduced the loss of light to number 65 and that he would reduce the height of a 2.5 metre hedge to improve light further.
Councillors were not unanimous in voting to approve the plans, which are an amendment to existing plans already approved.
Councillor Holloway said: "It's a huge blank wall, I think that will be very distressing for the neighbours. All the houses there are small and neat and that (with the extension) is really large and bulky."
