New tier at Beaconsfield Station could be parking cure

B05837-4-POSS-BEX-TEASER.jpgA new car parking tier at Beaconsfield Rail Station was officially opened today (Monday) and hailed as the long needed solution to the town's parking problems.
The new tier at the station, in Penn Road, has increased its capacity by 178 spaces eight months after work on the project began, with railways bosses, Neighbourhood Action Group (NAG) members, and town mayor Henry Wilson, formally cutting the ribbon this morning.

Parking in Beaconsfield has been a continuous problem in recent years with the station car park regularly over flowing and commuters taking up space in other car parks and along residential side streets.
The NAG identified the issue as one of their top priorities and have conducted a number of campaigns to raise awareness of the problem.
A close working relationship with Chiltern Railways has seen the NAG secure non rail users park in the car park at weekends for a lower price and the rail company took their concerns on board when deciding whether or not to build more space.
Andre De Marsac, NAG chairman, was delighted with the new facility and hoped it would leave more space for visitors to the town to park their cars and bring their much needed trade to the area.
He said: "It is good for the town when everybody works together to try and solve a problem and we would like to thank Chiltern Railways for listening to us.
"We hope that by increasing the number of car spaces for commuters who tend to park all day, there will be more spaces on other car parks and side streets during the day for people visiting the town."
Paul Robb, Chiltern Railways general manager, said: "This is good news for our customers. The popularity of our services has meant that the Beaconsfield car park has been at capacity for some time.
"However, more people will now be able to leave their car at Beaconsfield and travel by train."

We'd like to hear from you.
