Beaconsfield community projects set for cash injection
Community projects in Beaconsfield are set to benefit from £12,000 funding this year thanks to one of the town's supermarkets.
Waitrose, in Penn Road, launched their Community Matters initiative this week, which will see them giving £1,000 a month to good causes in the area.
To kick start the programme three charities will receive the first month's cash - homeless charity Padstones, Sparkles who support children with Down's Syndrome, and The British Limbless Ex-Service Men's Association.
Paul Miller, store manager, said:
"This is a fantastic initiative that will make a huge difference to a lot of people in the area.
"We are passionate about our community and as a team we are very proud to be working on such a worthwhile scheme."
Each month the supermarket, with the help of its customers, will choose three different charities to share the £1,000 pot. Shoppers will be handed a green token at the checkout allowing them to place them in one of three boxes to vote for their preferred one.The more nominations a cause will mean they will receive a greater the share of the donation.
Mr Miller added: "We look forward to seeing lots of nominations from our customers in the coming months."
